K. Carter Jewelry and Crafts is a small handmade jewelry business run by Katrina Carter in Newport News, Virginia. This page explains what information this website collects, why it is collected, and what you can do about it. It is written in plain language on purpose.
The short version
I collect only what I need to answer your message and make what you have asked for. I do not sell your information, I do not trade it, and I do not add you to a mailing list without your permission. There is no shop checkout on this site, so no payment details are ever entered or stored here.
Information you give me
When you use the contact form, you provide your first name, last name, email address, a subject line, and your message. Those entries are emailed to me and stored in this website’s database by the form software.
I use that information only to reply to you and to discuss a purchase, a custom piece, a repair, or a question. If you go on to order something, I may keep our messages as a record of what we agreed.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the server that hosts this site keeps standard logs, which can include your IP address, browser type, and the pages you viewed. These logs exist for security and troubleshooting.
This site also uses Cloudflare, which helps keep the site fast and protects it from attacks, and Cloudflare’s privacy-friendly page-view counter. It reports how many people visit which pages. It does not use cookies and does not build a profile of you.
Some fonts on this site are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google’s servers to fetch them.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. This site shows a cookie banner the first time you visit so you can choose what you accept. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings button on the site. Necessary cookies keep basic functions working and cannot be switched off.
Who else sees your information
I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. It is shared only with the services that make this website work, such as the web host and the contact form software, and only to the extent they need it. I would also disclose information if the law required it.
Payments
Nothing is sold through this website directly. If you order a piece, we arrange payment separately, and your payment details are handled by whichever payment service we use. They are never entered into or stored on this site.
How long I keep things
Contact form messages are kept for as long as they are useful, which usually means until your question is answered or your order is complete, plus a reasonable period afterwards as a record. You can ask me to delete your message sooner.
Your choices
You can ask me what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. You can also ask me to stop contacting you. Just send a message through the contact page and I will take care of it.
Children
This website is not aimed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent me information, please get in touch and I will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top.
